New photo series: The allure of decay

“Blue fish” starts my new photo series of rust, peeling paint, and other instances of urban decay. I hope you enjoy these images, mostly taken in Toronto and New Orleans.

The Finns of Mississippi

Who knew that there was once a Finnish population in Southern Mississippi? Around 1900, opportunities in the lumber industry attracted Finns from Minnesota to the small community of Kreole. One of the last survivals of this group is the Finnish Lutheran Church. The cemetery is a poignant reminder of the Finnish people who made this hot, humid region their home for almost a century.
